shea butter

hola natural chica!

i have a question for you about shea butter...i use the plain AAA Shea Butter, but when i apply it to my hair, it turns my hair white!!! i literally rub a small amount between my hands to melt it (sometimes i add a few drops of cocoa butter oil) and apply it to my hair. i usually apply it to freshly co-washed hair that's damp. i rub it in thoroughly, pick or fluff out my fro, and it just looks white. after applying, i have to wet my hair again to make the shea butter disappear...it's almost as if the shea butter (which looks white-ish in the jar) is just sitting on top of my hair. does this ever happen to you? i'm assuming it has something to do with the fact that my hair is damp...i don't think this happens on dry hair... afro

I have the AAA shea butter original too. It could be your conditioner or leave-in. Itf they have any silicones in them, they could be coating your hair preventing the shea butter from penetrating the hair shaft. Also it may be how damp your hair is.
